I attended an exceptionally interesting coaching session conducted by Ms. Eleni Eftaxiadou. I was particularly impressed by her approach and would like to share my experience. The skills I observed were the following:
Active Listening & Empathy: Eleni, by listening carefully to her interlocutor and taking notes on what was being said, chose and asked insightful questions formulated with great semantic precision, which gave meaning and structure to the discussion.
Combination of Politeness and Respect with Assertiveness and Authority: Thanks to these qualities, Eleni won over her interlocutor, who appeared dynamic in the discussion, as well as quite defensive and even moderately aggressive. Eleni intervened with confidence and clear, direct speech where necessary.
Precision of Language: Eleni formulated questions with exceptional precision in relation to their objective; her questions clearly had a dual purpose: to prompt the coachee to reflect on her advantages over the competition and to shift her mindset and encourage her to start thinking of solutions to problems, rather than problems within solutions.
Socratic (Maieutic) Method: Eleni did not offer ready-made answers in the form of advice. Instead, she asked well-targeted questions, giving the coachee the opportunity to discover functional and effective answers to the challenges she was facing.
